Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 28, 2026
1. Introduction
Moklabs ("we," "us," or "our") operates Nightwalls, an AI-powered security monitoring application. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under applicable data protection laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
2. Information We Collect
- Waitlist emails. If you join our waitlist, we store your email address in a local SQLite database. We do not share this address with third parties.
- Camera footage. Video streams from your cameras are processed on your local device by default. No video data is sent to our servers.
- AI classification frames. When cloud mode is active, individual video frames may be sent to Google Gemini API for AI-powered analysis (intrusion detection, fire detection, violence detection, etc.). These frames are processed by Google under their Privacy Policy. We do not store transmitted frames on our own servers.
- Alert notifications. Security alerts can be delivered via third-party services (Telegram Bot API, ntfy.sh). These services may receive metadata such as alert type, timestamp, and a description of the detected event.
3. How We Use Your Data
- Waitlist emails are used solely to notify you when Nightwalls launches.
- Camera footage and AI-processed frames are used to detect security threats and generate alerts in real time.
- Alert metadata is used to deliver notifications through your chosen channels.
- We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the service.
4. Gemini API Data Processing
Nightwalls uses Google Gemini Vision API to analyze video frames for security event classification. When cloud mode is enabled:
- Selected frames from your camera feeds are sent to Google's infrastructure for processing.
- Google may process these frames under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review Google AI's terms of service.
- You retain full control: cloud mode can be disabled at any time, reverting to fully local processing.
- Frames are not stored by us or by Google beyond the time needed to return a classification result.
5. Data Storage and Security
- Waitlist data is stored in a local SQLite database on our infrastructure.
- Application settings and camera configurations are stored locally on your device.
- We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data.
6. Third-Party Services
- Google Gemini API — AI frame analysis (when cloud mode is enabled).
- Telegram Bot API — alert notification delivery.
- ntfy.sh — push notification delivery.
- Plausible Analytics — privacy-friendly, cookieless website usage analytics on our landing page.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:
- Right of access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to deletion — request that we delete your personal data (e.g., waitlist email).
- Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Right to data portability — receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used format.
- Right to object — object to certain processing activities.
- Right to withdraw consent — withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@moklabs.io.
8. Cookies and Tracking
Our landing page uses Plausible Analytics, which does not use cookies and is fully compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and PECR. No personal data is collected through web analytics.
9. Data Retention
- Waitlist emails are retained until you request deletion or until the waitlist campaign concludes.
- All application data (camera feeds, alerts, settings) is stored locally on your device and is under your control.
10. Changes to This Policy
